FAQs

Why do I need Ellison when I have certifications?

The Ellison Test was built for this very reason. Certifications are broad, and cover many criteria (our own Standard 8.0 certification has 214 criteria!). Auditors have a lot to cover, and travel without a laboratory test kit. The Ellison Test is purpose-built from our research lab to verify your data sanitisation techniques and focus specifically on data recovery to prove to your customers that data is gone for good.

Who is behind the Ellison Test?

Ellison Test is delivered by the ADISA Research Centre which is the test laboratory for ADISA Group. We are leaders in our field and offer several “firsts” for the data sanitization space. - 1st test lab to verify data sanitization on SSD. (2012). - 1st test lab to verify embedded storage sanitization. - 1st test lab to verify compliance with IEEE 2883.

What value does The Ellison Test bring to my customers?

Customers are worried about two things: cost, and the security of their data. The Ellison Test can help with the second. This test is the world's only in-depth data sanitisation recovery analysis test. Our forensic team travels to you, and we test your products, people and processes on the day - no need to prepare!

What is the Turner Meter?
Degaussing is the process of permanently erasing data from magnetic storage devices by applying a strong magnetic field to disrupt the magnetic domains. The Turner Meter is the worlds only test that verifies the gauss-level in parts of the chamber. The Turner Meter is the world's only gauss measurement device that uses hall sensors to measure the magnetic field strength (in Tesla) in three planes (X, Y, and Z) within a degausser chamber. It’s a standalone unit, similar in size to a desktop hard disk, that undergoes a degaussing cycle like a target hard drive. After the cycle, the captured data is analyzed and compared to the degausser’s specifications to ensure effective data sanitization. This measurement is crucial because magnetic fields are invisible to the human eye.
